Durian...you've seen it on the blog before. You've seen pictures of signs banning durian on the MRT. You've seen unhappy faces after we accidentally ate durian flavored ice cream. What you haven't seen is anyone eating durian...but now, you'll get to see just that! If only you could smell the "king of fruits" (as its referred to in Singapore) through the computer, you'd have the full experience!
Durian is an awful smelling fruit. Really, I mean AWFUL. There's a reason why its only sold in certain stores. There's a reason that you can't bring it on the MRT. Or the bus. Or in taxis. But apparently, there's also a reason that people actually bring themselves to eat the darn fruit. Rumor has it that it actually tastes sort of sweet. In fact, I've been told that the horrible smell sort of masks the actual taste until you get to the "good" part. This, my friends, I'll never know. I refuse to try it! Guess who didn't refuse to try it...
These two stooges! OK, see that bucket behind Matt? That's the bucket that previously held the durian fruit. We tried to put it the fridge, but it was stinking everything up and making the apartment smell terrible...so out on the balcony it went!
Matt likes nearly everything and will try pretty much anything. Seeing this face after his first bite really didn't say much for the durian fruit!
Doesn't his face totally scream "this is the best fruit I've ever had?"
